District 8

Position Description:¶
• Coordinate the work on individual A.A. members and groups who are interested in car-rying our message of recovery to alcoholics in correctional facilities.
• Set up means of “Bridging the Gap” from the facility to the larger A.A. community by attending District Meetings, Aitkin Area Committee Meetings (ACMs), online Statewide Corrections workshops, and working with the Area Corrections Chair, by meeting online, sending emails, or phone calls.
• Provide information to the Area Corrections Chair about the correctional facilities in District 8.
• Work with the correctional facilities in District 8 to arrange meetings and Bridging the Gap connections in/with their facilities.
Responsibilities¶
• Attend all District Meetings, Assemblies, ACMs, and Service Workshops, including online Statewide Corrections workshops, where fully reimbursed.
• Give reports of all Committee activities and of all meetings attended.
• Corrections Chairs will be funded by District 8 to attend all of these events. Chairs shall be prudent with their spending, and will find others to share rooms and rides with, in order to minimize expenses to the District.
• Submit for reimbursement in a timely manner.
• Read the A.A. Service Manual.
• Obtain, read, and use the Correctional Facilities workbook and an G.S.O.-related mate-rials.
• Keep a list of current facilities.
• Work with groups on how to encourage members to participate in meetings within the facilities and with “Bridging the Gap.”
• Keep records of reports and lists of members in the District willing to work on the Committee.
• Coordinate the work of A.A. members and groups who are interested in carrying the A.A. message into correctional facilities.
• Update the Trusted Servant Guidelines, and submit the update3s b June of the second year to the District Secretary.
• Assist the incoming Corrections Chair with experience, records, information, and sug-gestions.
